What better way to start the Cervantino Festival than with a street under construction!

The good news is that the cut red stone street will feature interesting hand layed patterns. The underground water and sewage lines are being replaced. Underground power utilities are being layed to begin to reduce the clutter of wires overhead. That's the good news. The bad news is the street is nearly impassible, and the construction is taking place right outside the apartment. I surveyed the extent of the construction, it runs from about 30 feet down the hill from the house, all the way up to the Pipila monument. Work is about 2/3 complete, and the construction goes pretty quickly considering how much material has to be carried up the hill. I would guess that it should be complete sometime shortly after the end of Cervantino, assuming they keep going with the construction during that time.

The suites are not affected by the road construction, as the door to the suites opens on a different callejon.

Inside the main house, construction is focusing on the main rooms. Here is a view of the kitchen from the dining room:

As you can see, the tiles are placed, and we are trying out colors for the walls. Work in the dining and living room needs to be completed before we can start using the main kitchen, but progress is occuring.
