The house is located in Guanjuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. Click here for a detailed city map (it's a .pdf file, 617KB). Barranca is located at D7 on the detailed map, F7 on the city view. It's pretty much in the center of town. To give a sense of scale, the illustration below represents less than 1/2 mile side to side.
If you are inclined to purchase a map before you head down, here are some suggestions. | I have not seen this map, so I can't comment on its usefulness. Amazon says: "Travel map (in Spanish) of the Mexican state of Guanajuato, city of Guanajuato, and selected other cities shows roads, with distances in kilometers; railways and airports; cities and other settlements; national parks and scenic areas; archaeological and historic sites; art and craft centers; sites of folkloric significance; museums; beaches and thermal baths; golf; hunting, fishing, and aquatic sports; trailer parks and campsites. State map scale 1:930,000. Also includes maps (various scales) of the cities of Leon, Celaya, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Irapuato, and Salamanca. With table of distances; chart indicating with icons which amenities, services, and attractions (lodging, gasoline, railways, national parks, thermal baths, fishing, tourist attractions, etc.) are available in the larger cities and towns." | | | The Guia Roji's maps are the most detailed I've found, though the Guanajuato City map is currently unavailable at Amazon. It may be available again in the future, so I've left the link. If you feel adventurous, you can order it directly from the Guia Roji web site. Let me know how that works out for you! | | | If you are interested in driving to Mexico, I highly recommende the Guia Roji Mexico Road Atlas. I've used it for my trips, the spiral binding keeps the map open to your page for quick reference. Amazon says: "The most up-to-date Mexico road atlas by the most authoritative map publishers in Mexico. Detailed highway route plans indicate toll booths and toll fees, possible side trips and distances, places to stay and places to eat, gas stations, auto mechanics, medical services. Identifies locations of traffic hazard signs and intersections with numbered highways. Also locates commercial districts, panoramic and scenic views, rest areas, public telephones, border crossings." | |
